Evaluating the performance of the electro-osmotic pulse basement dewatering system
The performance of the Electro-osmotic pulse (EOP) technology as an alternative basement dewatering system is analyzed. EOP is a technology that uses pulsed electric direct current (DC) to force the excursion of moisture from saturated basement concrete walls and floors back into the surrounding soil against the prevailing hydraulic gradient. The system uses primarily DC flow from an anode installed on the interior of a saturated basement wall and floor to a cathode penetrating through the exterior wall into the surrounding soil. EOP shows great promise as an alternative basement de-watering system, especially for purposes of protecting below-grade electrical equipment and controlling problems related to excessive indoor humidity.
