Overhead presentation. Product standards are tools to define properties and characteristics. The CE marking should be a 'passport' for free circulation in member states. The CE marking is compulsory 21 months after a positive formal vote. To get this 243 votes are needed, each country has a different number of weights votes. In the paper the planning insulation product standards are presented. In the past, there were different national rules and standards on thermal properties. Thus the value on a same product is different between countries. Each country has also different national standards for reaction to fire. It is very difficult to compare results and classifications. It is shown that the CE attestation of conformity 'CE' is only the authorisation to put a product on the market, not a quality mark.
