Sustainable bridges. NDT as a tool to assist railway bridge management
The European research project Sustainable Bridges is going to develop methods, recommendations and guidelines for inspection, condition and structural assessment, monitoring, repair and strengthening the ageing European railway bridge stock. Among other tools for a better inspection and condition assessment as well as quality control of repair and strengthening we have developed or improved a set of NDT methods. All available methods are collected in a toolbox, which will be linked to damage catalogues or other information sources. The work will support bridge engineers and the railway' asset management. The NDT toolbox needs feedback from practitioners and railway managers, which will be collected during a workshop end of October 2006. The project will end in November 2007.
