Increased adhesion of parquet coatings by plasma treatment
Due to increasing competition and the availability of numerous materials, it is more important than ever for wood processing companies to constantly improve the quality of their products. For this purpose, the in industry prevalent plasma technique offers a good solution for wood processing companies as well. Plasma is an ionised gas which affects the wood surface by electrons, ions, radicals and UV-radiation. The plasma treatment increases the surface tension and thus the wetting behaviour of liquid coatings, such as lacquers, paints or glues. Hence the adhesion of these coatings improves stability and durability and quality rise. In this way the abandonment of frequently used primers or the production of new material combination are conceivable. Benefits of the plasma treatments are: Increased adhesion of glues and lacquers. Reduction or abandonment of primer. Utilization of new wood materials. New material combinations. Increased quality. Low costs (almost equal to 0.1 kWh/m2)
