The standard methods used for evaluation of flammability of textile goods (protective clothing, avnings, tents, conveyor belts, textiles for railway rolling stock, bedding, curtains) were reviewed. Oxygen index was recommended as the flammability criterion. The synthetic fibers bilaterally covered with poly(vinyl chloride) (oxygen index 20.0 to 24.5) showed the inflammation time 3 s to 17 s. The fabrics with the oxygen index 25.3 to 26.4 were non-flammable for 20 s. The analog textiles and non-wovens with oxygen index higher than 26 were non-flammable for 40 s.
