Estimating long-term concrete electrical resistivity
Some of the methods for estimating long term electrical resistivity that would occur in one year are discussed. A power function is one of the method that is used to estimate concrete resistivities. The resistivity of the concrete sample can be measured by using different test methods, such as FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation) test method FM 5-578, which involves the use of a Wenner linear four probe array. ASTM test method C1202-05 also known as the rapid chloride ion permeability test, is best use for estimating the electrical resistivity. It has been observed that the resistivity of the concrete mixes continuously increased after the standard 28-day period by using the concrete strength testing. The measured 28-day resistivities ranged from 4 to 54 % of their respective one-year values. It has been concluded that the significant increase in resistivity always occur beyond the normal 28-day cure industry test period.
