Correlations of grindability, chemical-mineral composition and texture of cement clinker
From the study of grindability (according to Zeisel and Bond methods), chemical-mineral composition and texture of commercial clinkers it was concluded that clinkers belonging to different classification categories ('hard' or 'easy' grindability) have typical chemical-mineral composition and 'texture (macro- and microstructure). According to our investigations the grindability of clinker with a certain chemical-mineral composition is determined by its texture and the development of clinker texture is influenced basically by the production and technological parameters (composition, grinding fineness and homogeneity of the raw mix; the type of fuel; the intensity of clinker burning and cooling etc.). The knowledge of correlation between the technological parameters and the texture and grindability of clinker creates a possibility to favorably influence the grindability of cement clinker during clinker production. This paper presents the major correlations from the point of view of the practice of cement industry.
