Overpressure calculation of gas explosion in tunnels
Three methods of calculation of gas explosion in 1-D geometry were used. They were CFD code AutoReaGas (Century Dynamics), code 'Plyny' (Zigmund) and equation by Gurin and its corrected form respectively. Calculation results were compared to experimental data. The comparison shows that experimental data and simulations by AutoReaGas are in good agreement. The values of maximum overpressure generated and simulated are very similar but measured overpressures decrease faster along the gallery than simulated. Opposite dependency could be seen from the graphs of mean flame speed versus distance. Simulated mean flame speed decrease faster along the gallery, From the safety point of view it can be stated that AutoReaGas code could be used for the simulation of the gas explosion in the tunnels or mines. Resulting values of the maximum overpressures could be very accurate. Method of maximum overpressure calculation used in code 'Plyny' was analyzed and corrections were proposed. Results of calculations using various equations of attenuation were compared against experimental data from experimental gallery in Stramberk.
