A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The Thames Water Ring Main (TWRM) is a 2.5 m diameter tunnel that forms an 80 km ring running up to 60m beneath London's streets. It can transfer up to 1000 Ml/d of potable water from the four treatment works located west of London to the major population centres of the city. The TWRM is currently being extended under a +/-120M scheme to improve the resilience of water supplies in London. This paper will explore features of the existing system and look at criteria for pump selection at the new pumping stations currently under construction.
