Strengthening of concrete members by means of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP)
In this work the method of strengthening of concrete members by means of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymers) is treated, whereas the CFRP-lamellae are glued externally into slots. This innovative technology exhibits some advantages compared to superficially glued lamellae. The results of the experimental studies show that the bond of slotted CFRP-lamellae is significantly higher than the bond of superficially glued lamellae and thereby the tensile strength can be utilized more efficiently. Additionally, slotted lamellae are protected better against mechanical and thermal actions. On the base ofthe bond tests a method is presented, which enables the application of prestressed slotted CFRP-lamellae and hence the utilization ofthe mechanical properties of the lamellae may be enhanced.
