Des produits textiles et de materiaux souples innovateurs dans l'industrie de la construction
The construction industry has experienced unprecedented heights in the past years - not only in Canada and in the United States, but also in China, where millions of new homes are required for a middle class population that has exploded since the turn of the new millennium. Valuable business opportunities have arisen for manufacturers of such construction products as acoustic membranes, insulating materials, geotextiles and other flexible materials intended for the industry. The following are examples of recent innovations in the sector, ones that testify to the dynamism of the construction market and the ingenuity of textile industry members in launching new products. To counteract undue warming, MW Canada has developed a range of window coverings made from metallized polyester. When temperatures are high, the metallized material cuts down on added solar heat, while in colder weather it acts as insulation. Made from polyolefin and coated with a special finish, PGI-Fabrene Inc.'s Fabrene UDL forms a unique roofing underlay that meets the most stringent building codes. Finitec Canada markets thermo-acoustic and vapour barrier membranes for basement, condominiums, apartments or individual homes. Texel, a division of ADS Inc., has recently developed its Drain Tube. The product is made from geodrains stored between two geotextiles. It will be used in construction and under building foundations and supporting walls.
