Prediction of shrinkage cracking for fiber-reinforced concrete
This study aim at predicting cracking due to drying shrinkage in fiber-reinforced concrete. Four major factors related to the shrinkage cracking mechanism, differential drying shrinkage due to nonlinear moisture diffusion, basic and drying creep, strain softening of concrete cracking, and enhanced cracking resistance due to fiber, are incorporated in the numerical simulation for ring shrinkage test specimens. Cracking time, crack width varying over time are calculated, and compared with the test data. It is shown from the comparison that the numerical analysis can realistically simulate the shrinkage cracking behavior of plain and fiber-reinforced concrete.
