Correlation between rheology of superplasticized fresh mortars and fresh concretes
The results show that the superplasticizer has similar influence on rheological parameters of mortars and concretes. Thus, rheological measurements made on mortars may be used for assessment of cement-superplasticizer compatibility in concrete. It should be noted however, that the effect of superplasticizer on rheological parameters of concrete should take into consideration the relative volume of mortar in the concrete mixture. Mortar mixtures can be used in the selecting concrete constituent materials, in the designing and developing rheological properties of concrete and in the quality control to detect variations in different deliveries of cement or superplasticizer. Established functions describe well the relation of rheological parameters of mortar with rheological parameters of concrete and may be used in concrete designing. However, presented research was performed in relatively narrow range. Thus further tests are still necessary, comprising mortars and concretes of different properties and proportions of constituents, as well as aggregates of different type and grading.
