Reliability analysis of river embankments using logistic regression
The multivariate statistical method of logistic regression was applied for the reliability analysis of river embankments. Beside the availability of appropriate data the selection of significant parameters affecting embankment failure was most important during the model setup. The resulting logit model can be used for the prediction of individual failure probabilities of embankment sections. With regard to guidelines of the EU Flood Directive, the quantified failure probabilities of embankments are necessities for the accomplishment of risk analysis for floods along rivers.
