Research on the use of sintering flue gas desulphurization gypsum as a cement retarder
The characteristics of the desulphurized gypsum produced in the flue gas desulphurization (FGD) process of the Baosteel sintering plant are investigated in this study. According to the technical and quality requirements of gypsum in the cement industry, the feasibility of using desulphurized gypsum as a cement retarder is also studied. Through the quality analysis of the Portland cement prepared with sintering FGD gypsum in the same amount as natural gypsum, we have come to the following conclusion: 1 - The cement quality indexes will not be decreased when Baosteel sintering FGD gypsum is mixed into cement as a retarder instead of natural gypsum, and it satisfies the requirements of the national standard; 2 - For the composite Portland cement mixed with steel slag, the 3 d strength index of the cement mixed with sintering FGD gypsum is a bit lower than that of the cement mixed with natural gypsum, while other quality indexes show no difference between them; 3 - Baosteel sintering FGD can be used in the cement industry instead of natural gypsum.
