Fault tolerant control in high building structures
This study focuses on the use of decentralized control of building structures in which the vibration control on each floor of a building is considered as a local control problem within the hierarchical two-level dynamical building structure. This hierarchal control system uses optimal control comprising both local and coordination strategies. At the coordination level the control actions are distributed among the subsystems. If bounded subsystem faults occur, the coordinator attempts to maintain structural integrity control of the building. The paper shows that this two-level control involves a 'plug and play' feature facilitating good fault-tolerant control of building structures subjected to severe seismic vibration.
