Low-Clinker Ternary Cements: Performance and Standardization
Having in mind the evolution towards increased sustainability of constructions and the reduction of CO2 emissions, CEN/TC 51, the committee on cement and building limes, has considered the proposal for developing low-clinker ternary cements. The studied compositions comprise traditional and well-tried constituents only. A pre-normative study has demonstrated the fitness for use of given ranges of composition, in terms of cement and concrete performances and durability. Based on the results of this study, CEN/TC 51 will shortly propose composition limits and a classification of these cements for which an example is given. This approach allows the incorporation of innovative products into European standards and will be used to develop guidelines for further applicants.
