Interaction of fibrillated polypropylene fibres with the matrix of reinforced mortars
The fibrillated polypropylene fibres were produced and used for the reinforcement of cement mortars. Mortars containing different dosage of fibres were prepared. The basic mechanical parameters of mortars: compression strength and bending strength were determined. Additionally the SEM microscopic studies of the samples after mechanical tests were performed. It was stated that the fibres do not affect the compressive strength of the mortars. For reinforced mortars regardless of the fibres dosage the compressive strength is comparable with the compressive strength of the plain mortar. For mortars reinforced with fibres a significant increase of the bending strength is observed. The increase of the bending strength was explained by the fibres/matrix interaction.
