Light-weight materials to valorise waste tyres pyrolysis residue
The aim of this study is to investigate a new way to recovery the char obtained from tyres pyrolysis, in order to realize lightweight materials for building. Pyrolysis residue has been used as a foaming agent mixed with three types of waste glass. The results demonstrates that the pyrolysis char is a good foaming agent for the material obtained with glassy sand and packaging glass waste. The samples obtained can be classified as lightweight ceramic materials, because the apparent density values are lower than 1 g/cm³, while a traditional ceramic material has density values higher than 2 g/cm³. It can therefore be concluded that the materials produced could be used in buildings field as thermal and acoustic insulating.
