Analysis of Long-Term Performance of Geogrids by Cyclic Loading Fatigue and Creep Tests
Life times of geogrids are assessed for long-term creep behavior which causes shape deformation and collapse of the slopes and embankments. During an earthquake, the structure is subjected to additional loads which may influence the creep characteristics in the reinforced soil structure. SIM test provides an opportunity to predict the effect of simulated seismic events or the influence of other additional loads at different loading intervals. In this paper, two simulated seismic SIM tests were performed. One was performed with a simulated seismic event at 23 °C and the other test was performed at 79 °C. Creep strain decreased after seismic event due to the recovery force after same seismic event condition with creep test time but finally showed overlapping by seismic loading.
