Evaluation of bond strength with polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete
This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation to determine the performance characteristics of low volume synthetic fiber reinforced concretes (0.06 % to 0.1 % by volume). Six different types of polypropylene and nylon fibers were used. The main objective of this investigation was to compare the results for bond tests done of three types of specimens with the steel reinforcement in three different positions. The bond tests were conducted in accordance with ASTM C 234. The results show that the bond strength of control specimen is less than that of the fiber reinforced specimen in all modes of testing; steel bars in lower horizontal position, steel bars in upper horizontal position and steel bars in vertical position.
