Nonlinear active vibration damping
A multivariable nonlinear controller is investigated for vibration suppression of flexible strutures. The structure considered is a vertical truss structure with collocated piezoelectric force sensors and actuators substituted as active struts. The closed-loop gain matrix consists of a varying term added to a constant term. The varying term is proportional to the measured signal, providing rapid cancellation of large deflections and maintaining low noise sensitivity. L(sub 2)-stability is proved. Experimental results show improvement of performance compare to a corresponding linear controller with constant gain.
