A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Australia was one of the first countries in the world to introduce the direct broadcasting of its Parliament. Proceedings in both Chambers of Federal Parliament (the Senate and the House of Representatives) have been broadcast nationally since 1946. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) (previously Australian Broadcasting Commission), being the national broadcaster, has always carried out these radio broadcasting and televising functions with distinction. It was natural that the ABC should be asked to contribute to the planning for the sound and vision aspects of the new building.
