Torsion of thinwalled bars of open section on discrete elastic foundation
Leight metal structures can be idealized as flat framed structures made from open thinwall steel bars, which are usually torsionally loaded. The elastic foundation is defined by the flexibility with regard to the angle of twist per unit length (elastic deformation, warping). A mathematical definition, using the initial parameters method, for a plain bar system with two symetric axis with excentric load, on a discrete elastic foundation are presented. So the unknown reactions, the deflection and the internal stresses in the supports and connections can be evaluated. A practical example is given. (Jarc)
