Friction monitoring system for lathe chucks
A monitoring system for automatic lathe chucks should become a standard in order to reduce the possibilities of personnel injuries, damages to manufacturing equipment and non-productive times of the lathes. The reason for these accidents can often be found in a decrease of the gripping force which is caused by an increase of friction in the chuck. A new low cost technology to monitor the friction of lathe chucks has been developed. The structure of a computer based friction monitoring system for standard application is introduced which initiates predictive maintenance for lathe chucks.
