Evaluation of bonding adhesive for EPDM membrane roofing
This paper chronicles the evaluations and screening of bonding adhesives for adhering single-ply EPDM rubber roofing membrane to typical roofing substrates (concrete, wood, roofing insulations). Current bonding adhesive for this purpose is solvent borne Neoprene based contact adhesive. We are always willing to evaluate 'new and improved' adhesives submitted by vendors. Also, new limits on VOC content in adhesives will require evaluation of new adhesives submitted to meet these VOC requirements. Firestone's requirements for bonding adhesive were defined. Specific lab tests and performance criteria were developed and defined to test specific characteristics of the adhesive.
