Integrated automated system for concrete rehabilitation on large building sites
Concrete rehabilitation is a task of great economical importance. Damage of concrete buildings is due to wear and tear during utilisation, poor material quality and environmental pollution. Most of the work for concrete rehabilitation is done manually and puts a heavy burden on the workers. The process of concrete rehabilitation can be subdivided into seven steps out of which four are candidates for automation. A consortium of two industrial companies and research institute cooperate to develop an integrated automated system for concrete rehabilitation on large building sites. An existing manipulator is being upgraded as a carrier system for the rehabilitation system. The feasibility of automated handling of a water jet tool for concrete removal has been demonstrated in experiments.
