Design of a multistory framed building using system reliability method
This paper shows the application of system reliability method to the design of a framed structure. A design procedure and a design example are presented. The essential aim of structural design is to ensure that the 'minimum' structural effects of the loads. Since there are uncertainties about the strengths and load effects, an engineering modeling of natural phenomena must take into account these uncertainties. An effective way of considering these uncertainties is the probability-based analysis of structural system.
