Free vibrations of clamped symmetrically laminated skew plates
In the paper, an approach is presented in which the Green function for a static bending problem was applied to a symmetrically laminated skew plate with clamped edges. First, the natural frequencies of the fully clamped three layered skew plate were calculated. From the results, it follows that one can estimate sufficiently converged values by using this numerical approach. Next, the effects of the skew angle and the fiber orientation angle on natural frequencies and mode shapes were studied. In comparison with those for an isotropic skew plate, the numerical results showed that more complicated nodal patterns appeared. In respect to the mode shape, however, it was found that the overall bending stiffness is more important than the layer material's properties. In the present paper, only fully clamped skew plates have been studied. However, by applying the energy method or Galerkin method to the estimation of the Green function, free vibrations of plates with various boundary conditions can be analyzed by this approach. Also, this approach is possible for analyzing the vibration problem of a combined system; therefore, one can calculate the natural frequency of a laminated plate with an attached mass.
