Progress towards a durability test standard for building sealants

This paper reviews the work carried out by the RILEM Technical Committee 139-DBS 'Durability of Building Sealants' towards the development of a durability test standard for sealed joints. The progress on two integrated durability research programmes is presented which are co-ordinated jointly by RILEM TC139-DBS, the CSIRO Division of Building, Construction and Engineering (Australia) and the Department for Long-Term Durability of Building Materials at the University of Leipzig (Germany). Furthermore, the progress is reviewed which has been made thus far within RILEM 139-DBS towards the development of an accelerated, laboratory-based durability test standard for building sealants.
