Textile reinforced concrete facade elements - an investigation to optimize concrete composite technologies
The paper presents the results of an investigation to detect the basic influences of different structural textile parameters on the properties of concrete composites to optimize textiles for reinforcement of concrete applications. Five different textile processes have been used to produce 33 textile structures over all. All structures consist of alkaline-resistant glass or polypropylene yarns. Four of these technologies, which have produced the best textiles, will be presented in this paper. An investigation of test specimen measuring 300 mm x 60 mm x 12,5 mm with reinforcements with different fiber orientations discovered the basic dependencies between the fiber angle and the flexural strength of concrete composites. 4-point bending tests of 300 mm x 700 mm x 10 mm panels reinforced with 23 textiles were conducted to determine the influence of the different textile structures. Finally the textiles with the best reinforcing profiles have been used for production of facade elements of 600 mm x 1200 mm x 10 mm on an industrial machine technology.
