Pulsation and NPSHA in rotary positive displacement pumps
When rotary positive displacement pumps give a pulsating discharge, NPSHA analysis must be carried out according to established procedures for reciprocating pumps. This article explains the displacement characteristic for the flow and pulsation of various types of rotary displacement pumps. Using an improved method for NPSHA calculation and considering hydro-acoustic excitation conditions, it is possible to achieve safe installation without danger of cavitation.
