Continuously cast beam blanks are successfully used in the economical production of wide-flange beams. Competition in the structural steel market and efforts by steel companies to expand their share of the market through cost reductions, necessitate production lines that require minimum capital investment, equipment manufacturing costs and operating costs. The basic elements for the production of wide-flange beams are discussed.
