Jacking loads associated with microtunneling
A conceptual model and calculation approach that correctly models behavior is presented to improve the prediction of jacking forces. The model accounts for the effects of ground conditions, construction sequence, operational factors, and geometric factors on the distribution of the face pressure and skin friction components of jacking forces as the shield is advanced.
