Corrosion of metallic fasteners in low-sloped roofs
The excent and causes of corrosion of carbon and stainless steel fasteners were surveyed by means of questionnaires distributed to installers, manufacturers of roofing materials and fasteners, and roofing consultants. Conclusions of this survey were used to determine causes of corrosion and define future needs for monitoring the problem, research needed for development of more corrosion-resistant fasteners, and the requirement for accelerated corrosion and abrasion tests.
