The current study investigates the technical and economic reasibility of steel jacket structures for application in waters around Europe, to ensure that steel jackets are not ruled out of major contention for future shallow water field developments. This report presents the results of a comprehensive and detailed study into the technical merits and the economic viability of fixed steel jackets for shallow water applications in European waters. Specific forecasting information is given to allow designers to assess the merits of a steel platform at an early development stage. Detailed recommendations such as the use of high grade steels and stainless steel are included.
