In field of architecture, stainless steel has now become a common material. Especially on application to exterior components, the superiority of its corrosion resistance is recognized more and more with increasing in environmental pollution such as acid rain. One of those applications that requires corrosion resistance and beauty of stainless steel is a roof drain. Commonly, the roof drain is made of cast iron and rarely stainless steel castings. However, recently HOKUSEI Co., Ltd. produces the roof drains made of stainless steel sheet by press forming. And NAS 304MK (SUS 304J2) stainless steel, well known for its good formability, is used for its material. The press formed roof drain has some advantages over cast iron as follows. (1) Superior durability due to its corrosion resistance and surface flatness which prevents any sticking of impurities. (2) Good appearance. (3) Enhanced water sealing performance due to its good adhesion with asphalt. (4) Cost nearly equals to cast iron, due to less process steps and high yield caused by its good formability. (5) Easiness of handling and storing, and better productivity, due to its light weight.
