Corrosion resistance of zinc and zinc-aluminium alloy coated steel sheets used for steel-framed house
The Kozai Club has started collection of basic corrosion data by conducting 'Residential environment simulated box' corrosion tests, which simulate the housing environment, and of practical corrosion data by conducting exposure tests in monitor houses constructed at five locations nation-wide in Japan. The major aim is to establish the systems for evaluating and predicting the durability of coated steel sheets used for steel-framed houses. In this paper, comparison of corrosion rates of zinc and zinc-aluminium alloy coated steel sheets under the environment simulating the interior of a house, the relationship between corrosive environments and corrosion rates and an outline of exposure tests conducted in monitor houses are reported.
