A Novel Vertical Deflection Monitoring Method for Long-Span Bridges
Deflection is a mirror to health status of a bridge. Laser projection deflection monitoring (LPDM) method, which aims to monitor bridges’ vertical deflection remotely and automatically, is presented in this paper. Based on this idea, a set of LPDM system is designed. A practical experiment carried out on He’ergou bridge proves the measurement results of LPDM method are better than those of precision level. It also shows this method has advantages in operation and accuracy, especially for monitoring deflection of those long-span and high-fall bridges.
