Performance and Characteristics of Garden Spaces of Buildings in China’s Chengde Mountain Resort
This study examines the garden spaces of buildings in China’s Chengde Mountain Resort. Based on a literature study and field survey, we sorted out and analyzed the functions, building quantities, types, and methods for composing 142 groups of garden spaces. We concluded that the garden space within the resort could be divided into 6 types and 97 models of space composition. Additionally, we found that the performance and characteristics of a garden space are related closely to the personality attributes and behavioral patterns of its users (e.g., original owner).
