AbstractIn Arlington zwischen Dallas und Fort Worth in Texas wurde am 25. März 2025 das National Medal of Honor Museum eröffnet. Mit diesem Museum sollen die derzeit 3519 Ehrenmedaillenträger der fünf militärischen Einheiten der USA von U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps und U.S. Coast Guard geehrt und ausgestellt werden. Im Oktober 2019 wurde der Standort festgelegt. Das Projekt wird komplett über eine Foundation finanziert. Der Ausstellungsraum schwebt 14 m über dem Boden, nur getragen von fünf Betonsäulen, die die fünf Einheiten symbolisieren sollen. Das auffallende Museumsgebäude wurde vom Architekten Rafael Viñoly mit anspruchsvollen Glaskonstruktionen geplant, die in diesem Beitrag beschrieben werden.

This museum will honor and exhibit the approximately 3519 recipients of the Medal of Honor from the five US military units, the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Coast Guard. The location was finalized in October 2019 and the project is fully sponsored by a foundation. The exhibition hall is suspended 14 m above the ground and is supported only by five concrete columns symbolizing the five units. The eye‐catching museum building was designed by architect Rafael Viñoly with sophisticated glass constructions, which are described in this article.
