Viewpoint – A Venture Into the Past and Future
In this month's “Viewpoint,” Abel Wolman discusses his views on managing wastewaters and protecting drinking water. Past assessments and improvements in dealing with infectious diseases and organic and inorganic chemicals in water are reviewed. Wolman concludes that both the chemical and wastewater and water industries must take more responsibility for determining and controlling mutagenic and carcinogenic compounds. Furthermore, public opinion should also be given more serious consideration.
