Solving the Adverse Salt Balance in the Orange County Ground‐Water Basin
The quality of the ground‐water supplies in the Orange County Basin, Calif., is decreasing because more salts are added to the basin water supplies than are removed. This article describes the components of the basin salt balance and the development of alternative projects to accomplish salt removal and a salt balance in the basin. Evaluation of the cost‐effectiveness of desalting alternatives and the proposed management strategy is also discussed.
