CH2M HILL Design for Tampa Water Wins Award
The Tampa (Florida) Water Department has been awarded the Water Systems Quality Award by the Design‐Build Institute of America (DBIA) for the utility's Hillsborough River Water Treatment Plant. This treatment plant was the only water treatment facility in the nation to receive an award at DBIA's Specialty Water/Wastewater Conference held this year in San Antonio, Texas. The design‐build approach was used for the renovations, improvement, and expansion of the treatment plant. Design‐build is a fairly recent approach in the engineering industry to infrastructure projects. It involves contractual arrangements that allow simultaneous design and construction of a project, ultimately saving money and shortening completion time.
