Oxidation of SiC‐Matrix Composites
SiC‐Matrix composites with TiC and TiB2 particulate dispersed phases were oxidized in air at 1000° to 1400°C. TiC composites exhibited limited attack to a maximum depth of ≈25 μm. Mechanisms of attack were discussed. A manuscript is in preparation for the Bulletin of the American Ceramic Society.
