The Groundwater Replenishment System
This article provides an overview of the Groundwater Replenishment (GWR) System, operated by the Orange County Water District in southern California. It is the world's largest water purification and reuse project of its kind. The GWR system benefits are presented, along with its various components, the use of grant money to reduce the total project cost, specific quality requirements of the project, brief summary of operational experiences, and the visionary partnership resulted in advancing water reuse.
