A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Rockford D. Wiley, informally and widely known as “Rocky,” takes over the gavel as president of AWWA this month. He was interviewed at AWWA headquarters by Mary A. Parmelee, MainStream editor and contributing editor to the Journal. Wiley is manager of general planning for Denver (Colo.) Water and has represented the utility on the Governor's Metropolitan Water Roundtable and advisory committees to the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG). He has been a member of AWWA for 25 years, serving as local chair of the 1986 annual conference in Denver, chair of the Rocky Mountain Section, and the section's director. His civic and professional endeavors have been acknowledged by awards from AWWA, DRCOG, the Optimist Club, and his alma mater, Colorado State University. He holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and is qualified as an expert witness in water utility planning and operations, hydraulic design, population and customer class projections, and water use and demand forecasting.
