Compressive strength of autoclaved aerated concrete: Test methods comparison
Autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) is one of the most popular building materials for wall construction. For example, in 2017, Poland produced about 4.9 million cubic meters of AAC, which covers approximately 40% of wall building material market. One of the most important properties of building material used for the construction of wall, except thermal conductivity value, is its compressive strength value. In accordance with EN 771–4:2011+A1:2015 and EN 772‐1:2011+A1:2015, compressive strength of AAC can be determined by two alternative test methods: by drying at temperature not higher than 50°C with moisture content 6% ± 2%, or by drying at temperature 70°C and multiplying the result by 0.8 coefficient. In this work, tested blocks of AAC were manufactured in different plants with different densities. In this work, impact of drying conditions on AAC compressive strength was described.
