Seit Herbst 2002 überspannt eine gläserne Bahnsteighalle die oberirdische Trasse des neuen Hauptbahnhofs von Berlin. Das zweite filigrane Tonnendach – das Nord‐Süd‐Dach – wird gerade vollendet. Anstelle der Pfetten historischer Bahnsteighallen spannt eine effiziente Stabschale zwischen schlanken Seilbindern. Das gesamte Dach sowie die abschließenden Seilfassaden stellen höchste Anforderungen an Statik und Detailplanung. Zahlreiche Sonderkonstruktionen, umfangreiche Versuche und nicht zuletzt die Montage bei laufendem Bahnverkehr waren eine große Herausforderung für alle Beteiligten.
Lehrter Bahnhof Berlin: The North‐South roof.
Since the autumn of 2002 a transparent glass roof stretches over the East‐West rail of the new main station in Berlin. The second filigree roof covering the North‐South rail is now receiving final touches. Instead of historic station's purlins an efficient shell structure spans between cable girders. The entire roof as well as the cable spanned facades demanded high skills in structural design and detailing. Numerous special constructions, extensive tests and finally the field erection during regular railway service were great challenges for all the people involved.
