A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Design for Combination of Compression, Flexure, Shear and Torsion
Very frequently, compression and shear forces are combined with bending and torsion moments. In the chapter, a brief introduction is proposed regarding the formulation of finite element analysis packages used in engineer offices, focussing attention on the warping shear and normal stresses in mono‐symmetrical cross‐section members. Requirements for routine design in accordance with EU and US approaches are summarized.
